A once-in-a-lifetime shot turned into a big payday for one golfer following Roane State's 6thAnnual Golf Team Fundraiser held this past August.

The 2024 edition of the tournament at Oak Ridge Country Club featured a Hole in One Contest on hole 15. Golfer Mike Bolding took full advantage, sinking his tee shot on the par 3.

As a reward for making the shot, Bolding received a $10,000 check courtesy of tournament sponsor Patterson Home Appliances. 

"The annual golf tournament has become a highly anticipated event for team supporters and donors alike," said Roane State Athletics Director David Lane. "The Hole in One contest added a whole new level of excitement, and we are thrilled someone was able to claim the big prize."

Roane State Foundation helps the athletics department coordinate and plan the event each year. Event info is posted online at rsccathletics.com/sports/mgolf/Team_Fundraiser. 

"We hope to continue building interest in our programs and being able to have additional incentives helps immensely," Lane added.
