RAIDER RALLY TO BRING TOGETHER ATHLETICS ALUMNI AND SUPPORTERS
Roane State Athletics is organizing a Raider Rally this spring to bring alumni and supporters together and induct the latest members into the college's hall of fame.
The rally is scheduled for 1pm until 4pm ET on Saturday, April 26, 2025, inside the gymnasium at the Roane County Campus. Former athletes, coaches, and athletics staff members as well as fans, supporters, and members of the community are all invited to attend the event.
"Those with strong ties to Roane State's history will be joining together to help promote its future," Roane State Athletics Director David Lane said. "The Raider Rally will be a great opportunity for alumni to reminisce and reconnect with former teammates and coaches. We will also share ways to support our current Raiders."
The 2025 Roane State Athletics Hall of Fame inductees include former Lady Raiders basketball player Bernadette Mattox, former baseball coach George Ogilvie, and former basketball and baseball coach Larry Works.
Mattox graduated from Roane State in 1979 and made NCAA history at the University of Kentucky in 1990 as the first woman to serve as a Division I assistant on a men's basketball team. Ogilvie coached Raiders baseball from 1984 to 1991 and led the team to a pair of conference championships. Works was with Roane State at the very beginning of its athletics programs in 1972, serving as head coach for both baseball and women's basketball.
A complete Raider Rally event timeline will be announced soon. Save the date notifications have already been distributed with more to come. The event is open to the public. There is no cost for admission. Event RSVPs can be submitted via an online form at tr.ee/RaiderRally25. Those planning to attend are encouraged to complete the RSVP form as soon as possible to assist organizers with preparations for the event.
"We want to recognize all those who laid the groundwork for where we are today," Lane added. "For many of us, our careers, connections, families, and futures started right here. Roane State is a part of us all. Now, we want to strengthen the bonds that have been forged over 50 years of Roane State Athletics."
Roane State's flagship campus in Roane County is located at 276 Patton Lane in Harriman.
