ROANE STATE BASEBALL DOMINATES WITH ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS AND ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
Roane State's baseball team is celebrating a season of outstanding achievements both on and off the field. Multiple players have earned prestigious honors, including Diamond Team status, NJCAA All-Conference recognition, and the L. Quentin Lane Award for Academic Achievement.
Three Raiders were chosen as Diamond Team selections, an honor recognizing exceptional performance throughout the season: Jonathan Larrea, Grady Parson, and Jacob Pointer. Head Coach Cam Hamsley said these Diamond Team players demonstrated exceptional skill and leadership, contributing significantly to the team's success.
Roane State had a strong showing in the NJCAA All-Conference teams. Zachary Illagan was named to the Second Team, while Jacob Bly, Jake Brune, and Jordan Carroll earned spots on the Third Team.
Beyond their athletic talent, a group of Roane State baseball players also excelled in the classroom. Cade Martin, Ben Edwards, Tim Gordon, Bailey Carroll, Christian Caruso, and Det Dettwiller were honored with the L. Quentin Lane Award for Academic Achievement. This award recognizes student-athletes who maintain a high level of academic performance while competing at the collegiate level.
A total of 17 players were named to the NJCAA All-Region Second Team, including Ryan Winters, Carson Yates, Sam Buck, Carter Oliff, Preston Abdulla, Taylor Ellis, Wyatt Collins, Tanner Park, Mitch Victor, Colton Lovelace, Daryn Glapa, Joseph Losurdo, Zac Wilson, Jacob Davis, Jackson Knotts, Marshall Robinson, and Tahdarius Boyd.
"The Roane State baseball program is immensely proud of these student-athletes for their dedication to both academics and athletics," said David Lane, the college's director of athletics. "Their accomplishments reflect the commitment to excellence that defines the Raiders."
Roane State will begin it's fall baseball season on September 17 with a game against the Pellissippi State Panthers. Game time and venue will be announced soon. Updates will be shared via the baseball schedule page on roanestate.edu/athletics.
