SOFTBALL TEAM EARNS NJCAA RECOGNITION FOR ATHLETIC AND ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS
Adding to the praise for Roane State Softball's strong athletic performance in 2024, several players were recognized over the summer by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) for success in the classroom.
Freshmen Anna Garland and Jenna Sims secured their spots in softball history by being named to the NJCAA Second and Third Teams, respectively. These honors recognize their exceptional athletic abilities and contributions to the team's success.
Emma Jenkins, Keyleigh Midgett, and Carlee Kees each received the L. Quentin Lane Award for Academic Achievement. This award is given to student-athletes who demonstrate a high level of dedication to athletic pursuits and their studies.
"We see how hard these players work each and every day to be excellent in school and on the softball field," Head Coach Marty McDaniel said. "Their talent and commitment to the program are evident in these well-deserved honors."
Most recently, the Lady Raiders competed in the TCCAA Region 7 Appalachian District Softball Tournament held in Columbia, Tennessee, on May 5-9. The team will be back in action in the spring. Dates, times, and venues will be shared on the schedule page once details are finalized.
