ROANE STATE WOMEN’S BASKETBALL FINDS SUCCESS ON AND OFF THE COURT
Roane State women's basketball is getting ready for a new season after an exceptional run in 2023-2024. Multiple players earned special honors following the end of the spring semester, highlighting the program's commitment to athletic excellence and academic success.
Kadence Jackson and Addison Oliver were named to the Diamond Team in recognition of their outstanding contributions. Jackson and Oliver also secured spots on the NJCAA First Team, a testament to their dominant performances on the court.
Freshman point guard Anaston Holt earned a place on the NJCAA Second Team. The newly named head coach of the Lady Raiders, Roger Parker, said that Holt's impressive skills and dedication were instrumental to the team's success this past year.
Lady Raiders Katie Walker and Jayla Cobb were also honored with the L. Quentin Lane Award for Academic Achievement. The award is given to select student-athletes who demonstrate a high level of dedication to their coursework along with stellar performances in athletics.
"I'm incredibly proud of these young women for their accomplishments," Coach Parker said. "Their hard work in the classroom and unwavering commitment to excellence on the basketball court is inspiring. The 2024-2025 season is sure to be another one for the record books."
Lady Raiders Basketball will begin its fall season on November 2, 2024, with a home game against the University of the Cumberlands. Tipoff is scheduled for noon ET on Randy Nesbit Court at the Roane County Campus.
