The Roane State volleyball team played four games over the weekend as part of the Pensacola State Invitational, held August 30-31 in Pensacola, Florida. Despite a strong performance throughout, the Lady Raiders fell short in three of the matches (1-3).
RSCC took on Garden City Community College, Pensacola State Community College, Calhoun Community College, and Gadsden State Community College during the invitational, but were only able to rally for a win against Gadsden State.
Garden City
In a tightly contested match that stretched to five sets, Garden City emerged victorious with a 3-2 win (19-25, 25-21, 18-25, 25-21, 11-15). The Lady Raiders showcased strong defensive play, with Solene Roussel, Jaylyn Bullock, and Haley Ledford notching over double digits digs.
Pensacola State
Libero Jaylyn Bullock led the team with 16 digs, while Haley Ledford recorded 13. Solene Roussel contributed 9 kills, and Kailyn Stevens added 4.
Gadsden State
The Lady Raiders started Saturday morning off strong finding a 3-0 victory over Gadsden State (25-8, 25-12, 25-20). Hannah Harnichar also led the team in kills with 8, while Frida Hoellger and Kailyn Stevens followed behind.
Calhoun
A 4-set competitive match. Ledford led in assists with 26, Jaylyn Bullock had 18 digs, and Hannah Harnichar recorded 11 kills. Solene Roussel as well as Kailyn Stevens were right behind, both with 8 kills.
With these results, Roane State's record now stands at 4-4, placing them fourth in the regional standings.
Up next, the Lady Raiders will take on Chattanooga State Community College in an away match scheduled for September 10 at 6:30pm ET.
