LADY RAIDERS VOLLEYBALL CLAIMS 4-SET VICTORY OVER CHATT STATE
The Lady Raiders hit the road on September 10, 2024, for an evening match at Chattanooga State Community College where Roane State pulled out a 4-set victory, moving to a 5-4 record overall (1-0 in conference play).
Roane State coaching staff credited defense and strong blocks for locking down the win. The match went to four sets with final scores of 25-14, 22-25, 25-20, and 25-22.
Both Jaylyn Bullock and Solene Roussel led Roane State with 16 digs, followed by Haley Ledford who recorded eight. Haley Gray also added seven solid digs in the Lady Raiders back row.
Roane State's coaching staff said each member of the team played an important role in securing the win for Roane State.
"Solene Roussel was a key player for us," said Shirley Mackenzie, assistant volleyball coach for the Lady Raiders. "Not only did she bring the energy, she logged an impressive 16 digs, four aces, and one block."
Right behind Roussel was Frida Hoellger with 11 kills.
"Roussel and Hoellger were dominant in the front row all night," said Head Coach Steve Dallman. "This is certainly a strong start as we advance into regional competition."
The rest of the team put up impressive stats as well during the matches. Hannah Harnichar collected nine kills, Kailyn Stevens had three, and Kaitlyn Foster recorded four. Haley Ledford assisted Roane State with a total of 43 and also played a big role collecting nine kills.
Roane State Lady Raiders Volleyball is now ranked 2nd in the conference standings. The team will take on Bryan College JV at home on September 11 followed by a match at Southwest Virginia on September 12. Both games are scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. ET. Wednesday's match (Sept. 11) is also Academic Awards Night.
