LADY RAIDERS SWEEP BRYAN COLLEGE AND CELEBRATE ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS
The Roane State women's volleyball team capped off a successful week with a 3-0 sweep over Bryan College JV on Wednesday, September 11. The Lady Raiders also celebrated their accomplishments in the classroom as part of Academic Awards Night.
Women's volleyball received three awards, including the NJCAA Academic Team, the TCCAA L. Quentin Lane Pinnacle Award for Academic Excellence, and the 2023/2024 AVCA Team Academic Award.
"Hard work in the classroom and on the court is a focus point for this team," Head Coach Steve Dallman said.
Lady Raider Blair Dukes was acknowledged with the First Team NJCAA All-Academic and the L. Quentin Lane Award Diamond Team. Frida Hoellger and Solene Roussel both received TCCAA Awards and Second Team NJCAA Academic Team honors, while Haley Ledford earned a TCCAA Award and Third Team NJCAA Academic Team recognition.
Roane State coaching staff said the team mirrored their success in the classroom when they took the court against Bryan College JV. The Lady Raiders dominated the competition, winning in straight sets by scores of 25-7, 25-22, and 25-12.
Jaylynn Bullock led the defensive effort with 15 digs, while Kenlee Hayden and Blair Dukes contributed to the strong back row play with three aces each.
Hannah Harnichar and Frida Hoellger paced the offense with 11 and seven kills, respectively, and Haley Ledford dished out 36 assists and added six kills.
"Tonight's victory and academic accolades highlight this team's commitment to both athletic excellence and academic success," Dallman added.
The Lady Raiders will travel to Cleveland State for their next match. That game is scheduled for September 17 at 6:30 p.m. ET.
