David Lane has been a cornerstone of the Roane State Raiders since 2006, culminating in his appointment as Athletic Director in 2021. His deep-rooted involvement in the program, spanning roles as assistant and head baseball coach, provides him with invaluable insight into the challenges and triumphs of both coaches and athletes.

A seasoned coach with over two decades of experience, Lane’s journey began on the diamond as a player for Middle Tennessee State University under legendary coach Steve Peterson. His collegiate success, including back-to-back Ohio Valley Conference championships, laid the foundation for a career dedicated to developing young talent.

Prior to Roane State, Lane honed his coaching skills at Rockwood High School, leading his teams to five state tournament appearances. Simultaneously, he served as an associate scout for the Cincinnati Reds, expanding his baseball acumen.

Lane is a proud family man, married to Missy and with two grown children, Dawson and Kailey.
